Good news! After 18 months of test development and web engineering, the Reasoning and Intelligence Online Test (RIOT) has been released!

The RIOT is the first fully online intelligence test that is designed to meet the professional guidelines established by the American Educational Research Association, American Psychological Association, and the National Council on Measurement in Education in the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing.

Online testing intelligence intelligence testing needs a new option; most existing online IQ tests are scams. The few tests that aren’t scammy are usually inadequate for any decision making.

The RIOT also fulfills a need for a self-administered option for intelligence testing. A traditional face-to-face test can take 2 hours to administer — and that is often 2 hours that a psychologist does not have to spare. For many purposes (e.g., screening new clients in an outpatient setting), it may not be worth the time and expense of a traditional test. The RIOT gives clinicians, researchers, employers, and others an option that they did not have before.

The test is suitable for low- and medium-stakes assessments of intelligence. Examples include client uptake, screening, self-exploration, tracking the aging process, and research. The RIOT should not be used for high-stakes assessment, such as diagnosis.

I am amazed that the test is now out in the public. When I started my career, I never imagined that I would be the creator of a published intelligence test.
