Beyoncé's IQ has never been tested publicly, and the "136" that circulates online is not a measurement. There is no interview, biography, school record, or test result behind it. We traced the number to a closed loop of three content sites citing each other, with the site at the root citing nothing at all. Even one celebrity-IQ site breaks ranks and admits that Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter "never disclosed her IQ nor addressed her participation in an IQ test." What is verifiable is a record of achievement that no invented number could improve: 35 Grammy wins and 99 nominations, both all-time records.
Where the "136" comes from
• The root: A site called SocioSite asserts that "Beyonce is even reported to have an IQ of 136." Reported by whom? The page names no test, no source, and no date. That sentence is the entire foundation of the claim.
• The echo: The celebrity-stats site scientific.place repeats the number, citing SocioSite as its source, adding no methodology of its own.
• The launderer: The calculator site check-iq.org then "estimates" 136 by combining the two pages above, while rating both of its own sources "Low" confidence. An estimate produced by averaging an echo with its origin is still an invention, the same pattern we documented for Rihanna and Drake.
Notably, the crowd-voting widget that generates numbers for many other celebrities has no Beyoncé page at all, and another site in the genre, realiqtestonline.com, concedes there is "no record that she has ever participated in an IQ test."
What the record actually shows
Beyoncé's documented education runs through Houston's Parker Elementary School, a music magnet, and the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the city's audition-based arts school. By nine she was performing in the group that became Destiny's Child, which signed with Columbia in 1997. The Recording Academy's own records make her the most awarded and most nominated artist in Grammy history, with 35 wins from 99 nominations as of the 2025 ceremony, where her album Cowboy Carter made her the first Black woman to win Best Country Album.
Why invented IQs stick to famous names
Celebrity IQ pages exist because searches exist. A specific-sounding number keeps readers on the page, and each site that repeats it makes the next repeat look better sourced. The chain almost never ends at a test. Our investigation of Shakira's famous "140" found the same machinery. When a real score does exist for a public figure, it comes with a name, a date, and an instrument; when those details are missing, the number was made up.
The only way to know an IQ
An IQ is the output of a standardized, normed test, taken by the person in question. It cannot be estimated from fame, interviews, or vocal range.
